Question for guys with long hair?

I was just wondering, why is it that you've decided to grow your hair out? Do you have a reason, or is it something that just sorta happened cuz you really don't care about how you look?

I'm not hating on you guys...I myself find it attractive. I'm just curious to why you choose to be different from the norm.

I'd like 'thoughtful' answers, please, if that's not too much to ask for.

now i wouldn't say this answer is thoughtful, it is just what works for me. i decided to grow out my hair simply because it's easier to take care of this way rather then short, when i had it short i would wake up spend time screwing with it and then getting on with my day, now i just pony it and i'm good. i also make a better hippie then i do a bald guy

Well my boyfriend has long hair,he is European,he is from Cadiz,Spain(Andalucia) and in this region many guys have long hair,its just a style. And its not like a mess,the put some gel in it and tie it back in a pony tail or something.Its not like here in America

My hair is getting longer, it feels nicer. Just need to give it a brush and then im done. But when you have short hair you need to put stupid gels, which in my opinion is not good for the hair folicals and can be highly damaging. I can see plenty of gel heads out there who use gel and their hair is getting thin. My mum is always telling me how lovely and thick my hair is. But it gets frustrating when its very windy because at the moment my hair is not long enough for a pony tail. It also brings out my eyes because my eyes are blue with brown hair, which can be different. My hair is very curly at the back and thats why i like it long.
